  • Teamsters understand the value in union membership. Higher pay, better benefits, and a greater voice in the workplace are standards set by union members that won’t be given up without a fight, even after the Supreme Court’s decision in the “Janus v. AFSCME” case.

    While it is true that this ruling may create temporary roadblocks, public employees throughout the United States need to remain unified. We cannot allow the progress working people have made in union to be slowed down because of lawsuits that disregard the value of public employees.

    The Janus decision came about because anti-employee forces spent millions of dollars on lobbying and court challenges for over 40 years. Attacks from these outside groups, backed by secret donors, seek to eliminate the freedom of public employees to negotiate with their employer over the value of their work.

    Many Teamster members around the country have held conversations with their co-workers about the impact of the Supreme Court decision to reinforce the value of remaining unified. Whether at the worksite or at the ballot box, members are fighting back against these attacks.

    Public sector Teamsters have made it their career to serve their country and community, and any attempt to take away their freedom to join together is an attack on those who are the foundation of America.

    Our middle class was built by everyday working people, standing together in union. The Teamsters honor that history by continuing the fight to give working people the promise of the American dream.

    That won’t end with the Janus decision. The Teamsters will continue to organize, mobilize, and do whatever is necessary to achieve prosperity through collective action.

Principal Officer/Secretary-Treasurer

Brian J. McElhinney

Brian has been a Teamster since 1984. He was employed at UPS for 25 years, 21 of those years as a Package Car Driver and 7 years as elected Shop Steward. Having previously served as Vice President and Business Representative since July 2008, he was then appointed President and Business Representative in November 2012. Brian was elected Secretary-Treasurer, Principal Officer and Business Representative effective January 1, 2016.

Brian was appointed as a Board Member of the Brockton Area Workforce Investment Board (BAWIB) in October 2015 and is a member of the New England Area Parcel Grievance Committee.

Effective September 21, 2016, Brian was appointed Trustee to the Teamsters Joint Council 10 New England Executive Board.

President/Business Representative

William C. Trask
Bill has been a Teamster since 1983. He was employed at Horizon Beverage for 29 years where he served as a Steward for 8 years. Bill was appointed as a Trustee in September of 2008 and then appointed Vice President and Business Representative in November 2012. He was elected President and Business Representative effective January 1, 2016.

Edward C. MacPherson
Ed joined the the Teamsters in 1980. He has been employed at Garber Brothers for 36 years where he has been a Steward for 35 years. He served as Trustee from November 2012 through December 2015. Ed was elected as Recording Secretary effective January 1, 2016. He was appointed Vice President/Business Representative effective May 1, 2017.

Daniel Spillane
Daniel joined the Teamsters in 2015 and is employed with the Brockton School Department as a Custodian, where he also serves as Steward. Daniel was appointed Recording Secretary effective May 1, 2016.


James M. Studley
James joined the the Teamsters in 1988. He has been employed at UPS for 28 years where he has been a Steward for 10 years. James has served as Trustee since November of 2012. He was elected as Trustee for the term effective January 1, 2016.


Matthew C. Dawson
Matt joined the the Teamsters in 1978. He has been employed at Ocean Spray for 37 years where he has been a Steward for 15 years. Matt has served as Trustee since January of 2010. He was elected as Trustee for the term effective January 1, 2016.


Phillip S. Anderson
Phil joined the the Teamsters in 1987. He has been employed at United Parcel Service for 29 years where he has been a Steward for 15 years. Phil was elected as Trustee effective January 1, 2016.
